Ateneu 24 de Juny

The Ateneu 24 de Juny belongs to a very Catalan tradition: neighbourhood associations that own their own hall and have for generations put on theatre, dancing and concerts for members and for anyone else who wants to come. The room is modest and multi-purpose — usually laid out with chairs and a floor that clears for dancing — and the programme reflects that: habaneres, song recitals, dance orchestras, choirs, local bands and events tied to the festive calendar. This is a place for music from the neighbourhood, not international tours. Prices are low and many events are free or pay-what-you-want; where a ticket is needed it is normally sold by the association itself.
